Remember Remember...

Remember remember the 5th of November, gunpowder treason and plot. There be no reason why gunpowder treason should ever be forgot

If many of you (who do not live in the UK) do not know, today is Guy Fawkes Day. This poem is recited by little children on the 5th of November in the UK. More likely if you know this phrase, you heard it in the first voice over of V for Vendetta (great movie, a must see).

But anyways, today is Guy Fawkes day, which celebrate Mr. Fawkes' attempt to blow up Parliament, and the raining Protestant government (even though he failed). But his attempt is still celebrated the day with bonfires and treacle toffee (made it once, and it was delicious). But I guess to me, the Holiday is about rebelling against corrupt authority. It also exemplifies that fact that the ideas of one man can have a great effect (or almost effect).

I think is was very appropriate for this holiday to fall so close to the election this year... because from the results of the election, I think that many people are trying to go Guy Fawkes on the government, and "take back" this supposedly corrupt authority (and by people I mean white male conservatives).

Now even though I love the through of heroically destroying a corrupt aristocracy... the keyword is CORRUPT. People became scared and wanted to have a drastic change in the government, because they did not think the authority running the government was doing a good job. Well I call this pure IGNORANCE and MISINFORMATION. Now I am still angry with the fact that while the Democrats and a majority / SUPER majority, they accomplished little to nothing of substance. And when they did accomplish something... (eh em... getting the country out of a recession, implementing healthcare, tax cuts, etc...) it seemed as though nobody in the country knew what was happening. The government should make the public aware of the good they did. And now guess what. We have a Republican house.

And I would like to Congratulate President Obama on all of the work he did in the past two years (even though it seems nobody knows about that either). And AMERICA, yesss I'm talking to you, I am very disappointed in the outcomes of the election. Lets put our reasonable hats back on our heads, and stop running scared because the government did not somehow get unemployment down to  negative 4%. They did a lot of good, but it seems as though most of America, and I mean VOTING America, decided that this Government was not working for them.

And another note, come on YOUNG PEOPLE AND MINORITIES. WE ARE THE KEY TO WINNING ELECTIONS if you were not aware. Lets get our numbers up at the polls next time.

But anyways, happy 5th of November, and I will leave you with some words from V (the protagonist of the movie)

"In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villian by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition The only verdict is vengence; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it is my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V"
